We held an Information Evening on Friday 16th March in the new Community Hall to update everyone with the building project. The evening was led by Richard Wolstenholme (Fabric Officer & Chair of the HLF Funding Committee) with talks also by Gethin Harvey (Nicholas Warns Architects) and Rob Sandford (Eastern Foundry Lead), as well as a display by Jane Clark (The Old Art Room, Swaffham) who is leading the project to make a new altar cloth with help from the wider community.
The building work is going well and the builders are doing a fantastic job, but because the roof is in a much worse state than was originally anticipated we will have to postpone renewing the electrics and guttering unless we can get the additional funding needed. There was a lot of interest about the project and we have had some generous donations but we are still short by about £30,000 for this phase of the project. If anyone feels able to donate or lend the church some money please contact one of the team for information on how you can donate.
The church as stood since 1349 and we are determined it will be restored and stand for another 700 years!
